Lessons from PopCap on Facebook Games

Another good presentation from James Gwertzman at Popcap. This one to the audience at ChinaJoy, about Popcap's experience launching Bejewelled Blitz on Facebook. The graphs of the adoption rates are pretty amazing in both their slope & uniformity. The graph on slide 9 was an eye opener too.

Hi Kim,

I'm a little confused about Slide 9. What is the takeaway? Any info on what was the feature adjustment they made to get to 51% and see the growth change that they did?

I don't think that's the point of the slide. It's just a reminder of the basic math and that there's an escape velocity required where viral tactics either reach escape velocity and become viral, or the don't, and there's no in between.

got ya, thanks. I guess I was reading into it a little more than was necessary. :)
