Tom got to sit in the pilot seat where Howard Hughes sat. What it must have felt like to power that big fat bird up into the air is unfathomable.

I had the good fortune to be in a flotilla of boats that watched the spruce goose come out of storage and into the then home of the plane here in Long Beach a number of years ago... It was quite a site to see the huge plane glide through the water as it was pulled by tugs.
