Hey Hollywood, what's that behind you?
It's amateur content... and it's coming on fast!
Simply awesome!
"A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Specialization is for insects." - Robert A. Heinlein

Awesome, although I'd say it's a pretty loose definition of "amateur."
You could say the same thing about games, except with procedural content instead of digital subtitutions like greenscreen.
It is amazing what you can achieve as an armature if you are good enough to be a professional.
I agree all the other comments above... these guys do not qualify as amateurs, they are independent professionals using the tools of the trade (green screen, compositing, model building, etc) to create a big budget look.
I agree 'amateur' was a pretty poor choice of word. However, I stand by the sentiment that it's not tied to Hollywood normal stranglehold, which is 'control through funding'.
In the games business, it wouldn't be whether a fourteen year old in his garage could build something of high quality, or whether two professionals living off credit cards could build it. Either way, if it's not tied to "requires 10M in funding from EA", then it significantly changes the business.
